www.moparsatthemotorplex.com/That was the site I was going off of for purses. They're saying that was based on a 32 car field. Even the nmca can't get 32 cars and NSS is the second biggest class. I will never again drag my ass up there or try to convince another racer nss driver to go there. I brought two cars up there instead of staying and visiting with my son before he's shipped to tech school Monday. I'm pissed.

They couldn't pay the racers, after paying Big Daddy (Big Prick)!
I looked at the website and it DID say based on a "full field". The only "based on" listed, was Drag Pack, and that was 8 cars.
Yep, NSS got the old shaft-a-roo. Glad I didn't go.
When everyone cools off, send us details on the fun part (actual racing, pictures, etc).
Congrats to Steve and the OFF BRAND WIN. I told you guys in 2010, the name of the race was gonna be changed to "Beat the Mopars at the Plex"!

Dave, remember the first time we went? Waited in the tower for an hour and went home empty handed. Sounds like this isn't the first.... Why would anyone go back for another? I'll file this one away in my memory banks so I won't be a victim. Next year, make sure everyone get's a fair warning about how this race is run......... I know you guys want more NSS racing in TX, but a race like this isn't doing your effort any good....

I was told that NSS was based on a 16 car field for a full payout. I figured that it would be around $1200..........was thinking that Steve had more than made expenses for his trip down from Tn. 500 to win sucks. Big made one pass in his Challenger and nobody gave a shit...the boys with the Blue Max and the guys with the fuel altered put on a good show........after that the only excitement was us blowing up the rearend about half track in the Galaxie.........crunch, crunch............In the last 4 or 5 years we have not brought home a running, driving car.............this is my LAST trip to the Motorplex MILLER, YOU GOT SOME 'SPLAININ TO DO BOY........When some of us were talking to Mark Buchanan and discussing the payout..HE SAID IT WAS BASED ON 16 CARS FOR A FULL FIELD...we then agreed that even with 14 cars it would be a decent payday for some of the winners........
Ya know, even though we live only a little over an hour from Billy Meyer's Texas Motorplex, I have NEVER considered it our home track. I would rather race at that "little 1/8 mile track in Denton" for being treated right and having a clean, smooth track to run on.
Enough of the crap...all in all we had a good time, got to see a few old friends that we had not run into in a while and had brought enough Heineken to get us thru the difficult times......

Dave, remember the first time we went? Waited in the tower for an hour and went home empty handed. Yup took 4 months to get it mailed to us -- and it was short. However I was in the money the next year -- and got is all On the one hand I had a good time, saw some good friends, got Big Daddy to sign my dash, made three passes in the wagon, and nothing broke on either car. Hell we don't race for the money -- but we don't like being treated like suckers when they pull this shit after a 2 hour wait.

Okay,,, not trying to be a trouble maker or stir the pot......but how do the heck do these people putting on these events make any money? If I did my math right and this was the expected payout
Then you would need $3250.00 for the payout to the 1/4's, even with 32 cars at $80.00 entry you would only collect $2560.00, still putting you short $690.00. Only a 16 car field would put in at $1280.00 a whooping $1970.00 short of just covering the purse.
Sure people bring crew members and spectators show up but even with that they track rent has to be hell to pay, not including ambulances for the day etc. , and if i was working my ass off for a couple of months putting this thing together, and spending all day busting my ass at the event, I would want a little coin in my pocket for my effort.
Again Not trying to start anything with anyone and it's just me again asking to many questions, I just wonder how they do it?

Wow, It sounds like this was a bummer of a race. I think it is crazy to pay Garlits probily 3k or so to show up for one or two passes at a race with a small format anyway. All they did was bone themselves on ever getting anyone to come back to their race. I would think it would make more sense to pay back as much as possible to the racers. Sorry to hear that you broke the 63' Mark. Was Damon there with Fugly?? poppaj

Damon wasn't there.
It wasn't so much the money that pissed me off -- as I bought the two cars there more as a favor to Cowtown than anything. It was the insulting of intelligence (Hell it insulted my ignorance too) with the unrealistic advertising of a purse -- and then coming up with a lame excuse of 32 car field after making everyone wait for two hours after the last car went down. 32 cars? Be serious!
If the event was local or part of a Southern NSS point series -- I'd most likely return, but I've made them all so far, and really don't feel like I need to be back. I'm not pissed at anyone in general -- just thought the way it was handled was cheesy.
Mostly, I'm pissed that I twisted Steve Wilson's arm to come here from TN. I'm glad the others who I thought I'd talked into coming didn't show.

Well Cowtown wasn't the only sponser,Dallas Mopar was too,Mike, and "Dago" were the only members of either that was posting, and trying to get racers to come, while other members of both were mute.

Mark Buchanan here, co-chairman Mopars at the Motorplex. I agree - not cool and not right! Ron Dillinger (co-chairman MATM) and I both talked to Motorplex employees and we thought we were clear that the payouts for both nostalgia classes were based on 16 car fields. This is the first I have heard about the incorrect payout and I apologize. We will have our settlement meeting with the Motorplex this week and I will post here what will be done about this. I promise we will do everything we can to make this right.
In all four years of this event everything has been planned by a small group of members from both clubs. None of these individuals have made a penny from this event. All of these people have put in countless hours and money out of their own pockets to build an all-Mopar event in this region. It is our desire to continue to build and make this something that everyone looks forward to every spring and encourages others to join us. I ask for your continued support as well as your patience. This kind of bad publicity can be very crippling. I would ask in the future if you have a complaint to contact me and give me the opportunity to try and solve the problem first.
Call 972-617-2068 anytime (no calls after 9pm Central please)
Thanks, Mark Buchanan
