Doug -- I didn't take any offense -- we're good.
I'm guessing that this started with my saying that a cowl hood didn't look right to me on the earlier and non-Chevy (most I know refer to it as a Chevy hood when seen on a Mopar) cars.
I'll admit that most Super Stock cars in 1960 didn't have scoops, and most Super Stock cars in 1960 didn't have graphics beyond strips and lettering, and that Mags were not bright -- but the car was built within the rules and I don't believe there even gray areas with the rules. Had the rules said no graphics, no billet, and no scoop -- I would have ensured the car lived within those rules.
I see a few cars that have owners feeling they're in that gray area, but who others feel are actually outside the rules -- and I generally hold my tongue and have never made a protest against another driver/car, as I rather get along with all drivers. I think that arguments over a 63 Mopar scoop on a 64 is silly -- as they're close enough to be period correct. However, I'm one guy who doesn't want to see any more loosening of the rules, and feel like cowl hoods are for mid-60s (up) Chevys and not period correct for a 65 Coronet -- but I'll never be the one to formally protest it.

Crager SS were not bright?............Keystone classics were not bright?.........Ever look at any of Ronnie Sox's cars?
Glad you didn't take offense............but I dam sure did........All Doug ever does is nit pick the rules, do his best to try and find anything to try and tear apart and confuse the issues with statements that are out of context and whine about his Chevrolet not having a decent carb/intake rule. I have heard this same chit from him for years............a bit of research might help to understand a little more before slamming all the rest. Have a Merry Christmas to all

As Mark said, there was a lot of "bright" chromed rims. As for intakes and heads are you kidding me... some of the most exotic aluminum heads and intake setups were produced for Super Stock in the mid to late 60's, Fords Cammer or tunnel port wedge, Mopars Stage III max wedge, 64'-65' race hemi, Pontiac had the 421 SD, Buick's 455 stageIII and Chevy that someone was saying nothing was availible intake wise for... how about the 427/435 tri-power, 427 "Mystery "motor with 2x4's in 63-64' then there is the 427 all aluminum ZL1......You might want to try the 3x2 setup, I ran a 67' Corvette in SS/EA with a 427/435 setup in the early 80's NHRA legal trim it was a very low ten second car. I would think that would be an excellent intake choice with a large cubic inch motor since you would have 1650cfm ..

AND AMERICAN MUSCLE! Go work on the cars. See you in a a couple months. We'll see, at the track, who's right! When the tree drops, the BS stops! Merry Christmas to all! Merry Christmas to all and be safe and Mark take care of things in Texas. Racing is the fun part, we can dicuss this stuff but I hope no one gets up set over what is said and opinions expressed. I know we are dominated by Mopars, but I thought a Chevy would be a piece of cake to go fast with if that is what you wanted to do. Let's see, 632 inches, heads you can run full grown rabbits through the ports, and yes good intakes and I know a guy that can build you a 4150 that will flow 1050+cfm, roller cams and killer springs and anything else you need. Try doing this with a Buick, don't bother me, I just shut up and race most of the time. Happy Holidays Jim N.

Hell the Grand Father of tunnel rams was Fords IE runner tunnel port, and the tunnel wedge for non TP engines. The term "hi-riser" was 1st used by Chevy for their raised intake for the Z11.
Hood scoops for GM factory Chevy, and Pontiacs had a Ford truck part number. How about those aluminum nosed Chevys,Pontiacs,Plymouths, and Dodges.Fiberglass nosed T-Bolts,these were all from the factory.
As for aluminum radiators, they were scarce, but innovative racers were using the smaller 6 banger cores.Even using motorcycle batteries, all in the name of weight savings.
Air brushed graphis were expensive,so many racers had'em painted on by sign painters.Today thats all changed.
Graphics Ramchargers candy stripes Bud Fauble flying geese Sox&Martin big crossed racing flags on their Chevy Jere Stahal total tuned headers Ace Wilsons Royal Pontiac hot chief "Dynos" Nalley Chevy, large racing flags Northwind Chevy Melrose Missle Golden Commandos Phil Bonner Fords Just a few cars with graphics, there's many more.Yea most of the guys with factory,or dealer backing had fancier lettering, and graphics, but by no means there weren't any.

You shouldn't take offense Mark, and I WAS NOT nitpicking any rules. Anytime anyone mentions something Like Cowl Hoods weren't period correct, you go ballistic. It wasn't even me who brought it up. Somebody else started that other argument (that you are still pissed at me about) YEARS ago when I knew nothing and I got egged on to participate in. Go find someone else to be mad at, my turn is over.
I mentioned NO One's car but my own.
And to All, I ain't upset, Y"all run what you want, If I want to think MY car needs some more touches to make it look like something back from the sixties, Than that's MY issue not yours. I earned the right to have a opinion about MY car.
Merry Christmas to All, especially to you Mark.
