Hi, helping a friend with N/ss wagon, running a stock gas tank now , thinking of going to fuel cell in back spare tire well. BUT how do you make a fire wall? cause it's not like a sedan or hardtop with back seat and rear window. was going to ask Doug Duel at the Indy swap meet but he wasn't there. thanks in advance. Russ

Thanks guy, looks like if some how completely seal it off from the rest of the compartment we should be ok. it's just that the car is all stock looking. I'll look it over and see if it's possible . thanks again Russ

Russ, Is the spare in a well under the floor,or mounted on the right,or left side?I'm trying to remember how a friend did it in his Volare Wagon.I'm thinking it had a well, and the stock floor cover was enough.I'll see if he can post some pics of his Wagon. Dan

Thanks Dan, it has the spare tire well in the middle, looks pretty deep, some day here I'll measure it up and see what will fit in there. thanks Russ

I ended up putting my fuel cell in an aluminum dirt track can as it was just a bit too tall to cover it with the spare tire cover. I STILL get hassles from some tech people about no bulkhead. I've even had to explain the lack of a trunk in a wagon to some. They're usually the same ones that will tech the car with thirty year old lap belts, but start leaking fluid over five year old race belts. Check out Doug's installation or better yet, just copy Mark's. It don't come much better..........Dago P.S. What kind of wagon Russ? Wagons give me the wood.......

Thanks Rick,
Wasn't sure how you did yours. If it's a full size wagon,I believe the well may be deep enough for a cell.

Russ, Not sure where you're located, but if you're near Evansville,IN,I bet a call to Doug, and if you can go see it,could be arranged.

With the Fairlane I got from Mark, the rear footwell is large enough for a fuel cell and sits at the extreme rear of the car. I probably can get it to hook on a hockey rink ;D

I'd still like to run a tube to fill it from the outside so you wouldn't have to open the gate all the time. we'll see how it goes. Here's Tim and I racing at Chicago. thanks Russ Attachments:
