Russ, definately check out some of the dirt track stuff from folks like Speedway. They have NASCAR style filler necks you might be able to attach to the stock fuel door and then route it to the cell. Then you wouldn't have to hoist the gate.

How do you check the fuel level then? I like to know exact fuel level as fuel is weight and I have an 8 gal cell.

Dave, this is how I did it on my 67 belvedere, I used an aluminum 8 gal cell, put is a sender and hooked it to my factory gauge. once you learn what full and empty is it works good. My cell is full when the gauge reads a little over a quarter. I haven't played with it to see if I can get the sweep correct. my battery is still in the front so it's nice not having to open the trunk with the hood after every run. Russ Attachments:

For drag racing -- I like to be a little more high tech for exact fuel levels -- and use a stick!
