Yup -- more questions than answers from that site. The only Dave Duell Classic I know of ( www.daveduellclassic.com/ ) is in a couple of weeks in Bowling Green. If Doug is involved in another at the Monster -- it is the first I've heard of it. Don't look to me for answers, I'm blocked from the Facebook page (for apparently being a troublemaker lol), I'm unable to decode his post responding to mine, and the Monster web site on the NSS confuses me even more. No matter to me -- as my son Justin gets married that weekend and I couldn't make the race if I tried.

According to an ad in the newest 'Mopar Collectors Guide' Its the A&A Transmission Nostalgia Super Stock. $2000 to win, $800 runner up, $320 semis, and $100 quarters. It doesm't mention if it's all brands, and there is an asterick by the class name with no reference to it that I can see.

Thanks for clearing that up.....well we kinda already knew it, but at lease you made it official.
I think someone already said, it was probably just a "cut-n-paste" from last year.......

Dave, the monster site does not say that anywhere!
You can find the old website cached on the internet, but I cant seem to get rid of that.
The Monster Mopar Weekend adopted the NMCA rules as it had been run in the past.
The payouts are guarenteed
as stated above Its the A&A Transmission Nostalgia Super Stock. $2000 to win, $800 runner up, $320 semis, and $100 quarters
It is an all makes class
Seems now that there are forums and facebook, people have forgotten how to call or send an email of they have a question.
Here is my cell phone number if anyone has any further questions

It looks like they updated payout on the site to $2000/$800/$320/$100 And posted If I was a betting man, and I am, I would guess the NSS count to be more in the range of 24-32. I base that on the car counts I see for most bigger NSS races. The high car counts at previous Monsters had a lot to do with it being more of a National Convention, bigger purse, drivers dinner with a lot of expensive swag, and the proven organization of the Duell family handling. Based on the preregistrations on www.daveduellclassic.com, it would appear the Nationals followed the Classic because of it's central location and more specific NSS organization, and swag/purse. This is a race (NSS at the Monster) ought to attract a lot of NSS racers within 300 miles (which their are many), and a few beyond that. That is respectable. I Personally wish the Monster the best of luck with this, hope it some day returns to a more central location like Gateway, and hope it has a NSS race as big as it use to. The Monster was always my favorite Mopar and NSS event when centrally located. Now to many from the South, it is now just another Northern event.

While that page has now been cleaned, that's where I got the information I posted. Forums like a NSS forum are a one stop place where people with a like interest can get and discuss information without individually calling a phone number. If you go to the bottom of the index page, you will find over 200 different people check they posts here daily. You can assume the majority are NSS racers. This is where many to prefer to get and share news rather than a one on one non-sharing phone call.

Dave, that page has been cleaned from the internet for a while now.
I understand, everyone wants the Monster Mopar in St Louis, they want the NSS ran by the Duell Crew, people are pissed that Scott sold it, i hear this all the time.
I bought it so it didnt just go away, which it would have.
If I get 20-30 nss cars, I will be happy as a lark.
Maybe the following year, I will get 31...... and maybe next year, I will have way more time to work with Mr. Duell to allow his organiztion time to run this race. Its my first year putting on any kind of show.....i will make a lot of mistakes, but i will learn from them.
Hopefully all the NSS guys that read this board, that are able to come, will.
If you guys have any questions, you can call me or email me. I dont check every forum, everyday and I dont want someone to feel ignored.
Im just trying to keep another Mopar race alive Dave, cut me some slack bud

Josh, I'm planning on coming, Indy is a centrally located track so I think you should have a good NSS turnout. I'll ask a few questions, 1. Are you having class runoff's? Most Nss racers enjoy this. 2. Who is tech'ing the NSS cars and hopefully they will be strict with the rules. Is the purse as posted cash? or gift certificates from sponsors?
Looking forward to racing at Indy again,
Jim Guy

Im just trying to keep another Mopar race alive Dave, cut me some slack bud Josh I'm not sure why you feel like Im dogging you. John Pappas just called me after you called him. I don't dislike you, I want to see the Monster survive, I've said I wish you luck, I've encourage cars to go. I think you have the right plan if you have reasonable expectations this year and build on it. However I run a NSS site and call them like I see them. That was the purse figures I saw when I Google searched the day I posted, I don't make shit up. My estimations of 24-32 being more realistic than 70 is for the reasons stated. I have a little idea of the pulse of NSS racing and that's what I'm hearing. I hope I'm wrong and you get 70 cars, I'm just not betting on it. I think it was smart of you to continue to open NSS to all makes. I'll state for the last time that The Monster was always my favorite event, but because it wasn't in the North like the Nats and Carlisle. Now to us in the South, it is just another Mopar event in the North. That's my personal opinion and I'm sure not shared by those in the North. Agian I wish you and the Monster luck and hope it is a big success.

Josh,
Thanks for clearing up the conflicting info.
Thanks for rescuing the event (especially NSS).
We have the event penciled in (very lightly, as we have a 300 mile, self imposed travel limit!). I'm violating that limit twice already in 2011, with NMCA Commerce and NMCA Indy (in Oct.).
Rules are made to be broken, right? That is , my travel rules, not NSS rules!
Good luck on the New Monster!
Might show up. Never can tell.
Maybe for 2012 - MONSTER MOPAR MEMPHIS !!!!! Nice ring, uh?

I have no problems with giving the guys another hit down the track, but Im not sure I understand the question. Thanks for helping my event Jim

Class run offs: because there has for years been more than 32 NSS racers, instead of qualifying for the ladder, the first round was done with Bingo balls, until the last couple of years where the Brand X cars would be in Lane one and the Mopars in lanes 2-4 where the match up to to run the brand x was by a card draw.
This allowed for the different classes in NSS to race for class championship instead of qualifying run. The class winners would get a 16x20 photo of their car at the Saturday night drivers dinner.
