I made two passes for TT -- 11.026 in 80 degree weather and 11.012 in 88 degree. Dallas' car wasn't running the number -- but we think we found the problem. No more TT opportunities (qualifying starts at 9AM) so I think we'll be Conservative and put a 10.00 number on it. Barry Camp blew his motor -- and with the new rules if you don't qualify -- you weren't here.

Is that the red 66' Biscayne? That is a real bummer, did it destroy block and all?

Bummer for Barry. Some how, I just know he'll make a joke about it!
Have fun tomorrow! Be safe!

Yup it was "The Pig"
He thinks it is a lifter issue - but his engine builder told him to load it up and bring to him. He's planning to run all of the races -- but with the new rules he's not here if he doesn't make a qualifying pass. You use to get 50 points and be counted if you turned in a tech card.

opened the trailer door and Dallas' slick was flat and leaking air from around the valve stem, and naturally -- the only race Mickey Thompson or Nitto isn't at is this one

Yep ...pull the sparkplug and rockers on goofballs, pump up Dallas' and break the beams- then Dallas' to the tire store to get a valve stem....

On second thought, Barry probably can't pull the lifters and have oil press- understand Dallas has a new tube....

first round of qualifying for me I guessed right on adding 20 pounds ballast Dallas got his flat fixed and pulled into the line just as we were moving up. His car did a 10.01 and a 10.17 yesterday -- but we found his timing had slipped to 24 degrees. Set it back at 34 and since there was no more TT (and he has new 2.25" headers) -- he changed his index to A/NSS in case the car couldn't do the number. He ran a 9.756 lifting for a 121mph. The car might have run a 9.50. The weather will get warmer (was 78 but heading toward 90) so we'll take 4 degrees timing out and add a little ballast. Barry borrowed Gordon's C/NSS light brown/gold 64 Impala because Gordon isn't running the point series. He had to buy another ticket for $105 and run the car through tech again before getting to the line for Q1. I thought that was chicken shit to him to but a ticket for his 66, Gordon buys one for the 64, then Barry has to buy another one to run the 64.

BTW -- if we couldn't have gotten Dallas' tube fixed the plan was to pump it to 30 and break the beams. That said we waited 45 minutes in staging after leaving for last call. His tire would have been flat even with bringing the air tank because the leak was that fast at the valve stem.
$90 later for a new tube and he's back in. I wanted Dallas to take the timing down to 30 degrees -- but Damon told Dallas not to.

It turns out that Geary did do a 10.502 -- but on a 10.0 index. So after 1 I'm number one -- but that won't hold. In Maple Grove I did a 11.000 and was the second qualifier. I need to get about .007 better

Fixin to call us. The air is about the same but I took out 20 pounds and about 7 pounds lighter on gas to push it. I'm figuring a 10.99 because there is a tail wind -- but now 1s not the time to be conservative.
Talked Dallas into dropping the timing to 30. Hopefully that will slow him down by .25.
