Took me awhile but I got it open. I plan on hitting 2 of these but could hit 4 if I get lucky. May try and hit Eddyville; never ran there and never on a 1/8 track before either.

I just updated the mailing list from last year. We had more than 40 different cars participate in the Series. I think that we will easily top that this year judging by the response thus far! I was at the World Of Wheels Show in Kansas City this past weekend and got to talk to many interested Racers and Fans. If you know of any business or individual that might be interested in participating as a sponsor, have them call me. The more prizes, the better!Keep checking dragracingonline.com for more updates. See you at the Races, Chris Schneider [573-644-3272].

Why -- are you running a tunnel ram now?

The Sub has been running a tunnel ram since day one. on the 440, it had a Weiand 2x4 and now on the low deck 499 it has an Indy.

Is the Low Deck Fugly's old motor?
I know that the rules say that you can use a 2X4 intake that keep your top of the carbs from breaking the plane of the hood -- but almost all of the ones I've seen are breaking the plane of the hood by more than just a little. I personally don't get involved in challenging another racer's car -p- but there are quite a few in NMCA who do. I can think of three right of the top of my head.
I know the STR14s are hard to find and expensive -- but I'd really would be looking for a good one with a 2X4 top to avoid the hassle -- and open the number events you can race at. I'm pretty sure the Chrysler Classics (or whatever they're called now), and the Good Guys won't let you run either.
Not trying to stir up shit -- just giving you a heads up on what to expect at some events.

Yes its x fugly and we all know it would run like hammered poo with the with the over priced STR-14 intake. I built that car to run NSS and fit a tunnel ram under there. the front carb sticks up a 1/2 inch over the hood line but to this day i havent seen were that is a rule violation.
HOOD\SCOOP (NSS Classes): Hoodscoops limited to OEM equipment or period style. Hood/scoop may be no higher than 5 inches. Pro stock-style scoops prohibited. The entire induction system must be completely covered by hood or scoop, which must be part of the vehicle hood. My period correct scoop is 3 1/2 inches tall which easily covers the entire induction system. The tunnel ram is a commercialy made cast 2x4 intake which follows the rule to a T. you have more experience with the northern folk than me and the last thing I want to do is drive a 1000 miles only to get in a fight about wether my car is legal. has anyone ever come out right and say "no tunnel rams allowed" in an NMCA event?

The topic has never been tunnel ram intakes -- more of the height of the carbs.
I'm sure you'll be OK in NMCA, and we know all of the southern races you'll be Ok -- it is the other organizations that you will have problems with. Many of them don't go by Nostalgia Super Stock -- but Max Wedge, or Hemi, or Nostalgia, and their rules are a little different.

If you decide to go to an STR , I would recommend an STR15- the 14 is for raised deck

Hey Dave, the Sub is dam sure legal...but you may want to check around your own back door. They worked long hours on that tunnel ram (commercially avail. cast intake) to MAKE it legal for NSS.
If it comes down to Legal or not...don't let me be there. Half of the field would be gone. A lot of this is only interpertation of each rule and how it is written. Many look at it different. When we started a few thought our car was not legal because of the paint job.
