Anyone know the history of this car? I bought this car off a guy in New Mexico who had the car for 15 years. He said he'd bought it from a dentist who was at one-time partners with the person who raced it. He told me that they had a falling out, the driver left, and the dentist couldn't drive the car so he sold it. That's all I know but.... I was in Bradenton this last weekend and was told by someone that he use to see this car a lot in Ohio during the 80s and maybe as far back as the 70s. Anyone know anything about this car? Its a 63 Plymouth with a 426 Wedge.

Nice pick up Dave, cant help you with any history but have you run the numbers on the car ? I have that 63 super stock book with all the numbers in it, never know your luck . From the the pic it looks to be a factory hood scoop ? Is that you in the drivers seat ? How about a bit more info on the car ? Sorry for all the Q's mate, I just have a 63 fetish ;D

Me in the car -- slid down and over to the right as the sear brackets are too high. My car was broke so we took it to the race -- before I'd ever sat in it. On Friday I realized the seat belts were too small -- but another racer had a set to sell me. We need to cut down the seat brackets. I like 63 Plymouths too -- more than 65 Coronets. It has a Max Wedge 426 -- but I haven't looked at any numbers. I was too fast in the car for my first race -- never figuring out how to slow it for the 100.0 index. I'm going to take it to the track in the next week to see if I can get it into the 10.5 index. www.oldhippie.com/photos/showgallery.php?cat=688

I saw this car on Ebay and bid on it too, NM just too far for me to go and see it. Seems like nice car. I have seen some photos of it on the track on some NSS site. I am also a 62-63 mopar lover. I am going up to Ohio to see one, more for cruising than racing, but a little of both. I will be adding a Mancini cross ram set up, if I get the car.

I spent about an hour under the car just looking up at how the car was built. Whoever built this car knew what he was doing. I really like a lot of his ideas. Quality all of the way.
I took out a bunch of throttle cable (opens at about 3/4 WOT and bolted in almost 200 pounds of plates with 1/2 Grade 8 bolts/Nuts?lock Washers. Took the car to T&T in Bowling Green and made three passes.
1. (9:15 AM) Launch at 2500 and shift at 6000 = 11.04 2. (10:00AM) Launch at 2500 and shift at 6200 = 10.99 3. (11:15AM) Launch at 2500 and shift at 6100 = 10.97 (track/weather better) 4. (12:30) Launch at 2500 and shift at 6000 = 11.03
Good enough for Government work.
