I'm going to give a heads up on Joliet for the NSS guys.
There are limited hard pits, and they go first to the Roush, Baskin teams, and all of the top two heads up classes on a reservation basis. All trailers pulled by pick up trucks go on the grass automatically. The balance of the motorhomes/toter homes go to first come - first serve at the staging area, which is NASCAR car track across the street. THERE IS SUPPOSE TO BE NO SAVING THE PIT NEXT TO YOU -- EVEN IF THAT RACER IS IN LINE. You might get a break if the other guy is less than 25 rigs in back of you -- but in a few hours all hard pits will be gone.
Three years ago I pulled into the staging area on Thursday at 11AM and was about 100 racers back. Two years ago I again arrived at 11am Thursday and was about 200 racers back -- and had to beg for a hard pit. Obviously people are catching on and getting there earlier and earlier. Last year I got there at about 3PM on Wednesday -- and was about 5th in lane. By midnight there looked to be 100, and 8AM Thursday about 250.
The fact that it is going to be raining from now until early next week, and then again Friday and Saturday -- there will most likely going to be a lot of people not wanting to pit in the mud and will arrive earlier than normal. One of the years is was very messy in the grass, and I suspect it may be that way again this year.
Take that information for what it is worth. I'll be there Wednesday early evening. We'll most likely push for the Sikesville, MO (700 miles) Walmart Tuesday night, and Joiliet Wednesday night (550-600 miles).
