They're talking like 2pm for our first round. Going to let their local bracket racers go twice first. Not happy.

Ok the event ends in a lot of drama for NSS. The track had gone to hell early in the day and there was a lot of wrecks and oil downs. The track staff was acting really pissed every time they had to clean up after a wreck. Next thing I know the track staff appear to be gone and NMCA people like Trey are out there swinging a mop and not looking happy. At about 8 they call nss to the lanes but there are a lot of cars already in the lanes. The left lane is particularly bad as no one is making good passes down it. Just before Doug and Merrick pull into the burnout box this 10-second Falcon makes a wild out pf control pass on the left lane. This track is notorious for having dew settle at sundown. To make a long story short, the NSS guys told NMCA that they didn't want to wreck their cars because of a sloppy track. NMCA didn't appear to be happy about that, most likely frustrated with how the event had been going (which I think was mostly their track personnel acting like assholes and taking exceeding long on wrecks and cleanups). My understanding is the four got $175 semi money and no winner or runner up points will be awarded.
There were a lot of very pissed off racers, but I personally put blame on the track for poor prep and slow cleanups.

I Was sad because we could not go but it sounds like a big cluster so it was for the best. I feel for you guys that made the trip and were treated so poorly. I sincerely hope that the rest (and especially the Dave Duell Classic) races do not end up in this fashion. The NMCA needs to realize that these NSS cars are very fast and heavy and can just as easily get crossed up as some of the faster class cars. It just is not right to be treated in this manner. They need to be called out about it. poppaj

Called OUT?.................THEY HAVE BEEN CALLED OUT already, many times........trying to run a dual event and having bracket racers also.........then running the local bracket stuff FIRST, taking up too much time, holding the racers that tow thousands of miles to the last and having problems with the track in the late rounds...
It's all been said many times before...............I have said these same words and MUCH MORE to all of the officials at PROMedia. Believe me, they KNOW and still go thru the same bullshit...It's the only game in town...........

I blame the track and not NMCA. The track people must have a strong union. I've seen more hustle from highway workers. This could have been pulled off at a good track easily. Bracket racers are a fact of life or they can't afford the tracks. NMCA was trying hard, the track was understaffed and incompetent. Milan, Joliet or bowling green woulnt have had a problem.

NMCA says final 4 NSS racers decided to split the points and prize money, "due to a late evening".
The excuse offered by Jason Reiss (NMCA Digital writer)makes it sounds like the old, grouchy men in NSS, were past their bed time!
If they did, indeed split the TOTAL, 4-car money, AND the TOTAL 4-car points, that would be fair.
unedited from nmcadigital: "Indy Cylinder Heads Nostalgia Super Stock had Brian Merrick at the top of the qualifying ladder. On elimination day, due to a late evening, the final four racers (Brian Merrick, Doug Duell, Kurt Neighbor, and Steve Wilson) decided to split the points and the prize money for the weekend."
We'll wait on Doug, to get the "rest of the story", as Paul Harvey used to say.
We stopped between ATL and Chatt, and slept. Got in about 2:30 PM today.
The past 5 days was a tremendous waste of time and money.

Dave, The bracket racers are smarter than us. MOST OF THEM DIDN'T SHOW UP. I guess they knew what a joke, trying to run 3 events in one, would be! I've never been a fan of oil-down penalties, but NMCA needs to institute a "2 oil down per round" maximum. Two oil downs and that round is OVER! Their fast classes have become the WWE of drag racing. Lots of drama, and little racing. I've just revamped my NMCA racing schedule the remainder of the year. BG is the ONLY NMCA event on the list as of right now. All other, that had been penciled-in, just got erased.
