Well -- that makes my decision easy then. No Monster for me. Too damn far. I hope that some day if moves back to the center of the US, as I'm not going all of the way to Indy for what once was my favorite Mopar event. Oh come on now Dave dont throw it out that easily. Josh is going to to this event up right. It will be a good one... Just spend a little longer in the motorhome with Dallas lol. Seriously though think about it. Casey

Nope -- can't afford to stay two weeks in Indy.
It is much easier for you guys with all of the races at your front door, and when northerners ever start traveling to the southern races -- they'll understand the time and expense we have for every single race.

When I ran NHRA Super Stock the west coast swing was a six week road trip. So I can understand how you feel about long trips.

Well it looks like this thread started without me. Allow me to introduce myself, I am Josh King. I happen to be nothing more than a young racer, who has lived and breathed mopars my whole life. My father would allow nothing else, and i am grateful for that. I am not the gentleman with the blue duster. I have a green drag radial duster with a turbo charged b1 engine. My initial intention was started to just try to fill a void for the mopar community. It was sad to me that gateways future was uncertain, and more upsetting the way the mopar community had been treated by some of the other promoters. Its not fair in my opinion to take advantage of anyone, especially the mopar folks out there. This all started as something i was going to build from nothing, Scott Seiviking has graciously given me an opportunity of a lifetime to take over his event and is going to mentor me for at least the first year. The event is being held at Indy only because i live here, have a super relationship with track management, and they were willing to move some events around to give me a weekend to do my own show. For that i can not thank them enough. What most people don't know, is that i made the decision to do this, only 3 weeks ago. My goal is to continue a great show this year, and have at least 2 next year if not 3. And i am going to do it without taking advantage of the people that make these events happen, the racers, show cars folks, sponsors, and the vendors.
Dave, i contacted you because i was told that you were an anchor in the NSS world and wanted to get your input on how to develop a NSS class that would satisfy the needs of the people that raced those classes. Nothing more. I will not pretend to know everything about anything and will reach out to the specialists in each category to gather the best information i can get.
I apologize to the racers that can not come to this event because it is to far away. Hopefully gateway will reopen in the next few years and we can put this event back where it belongs as well as a few more scattered around the area to create great racing for everyone.
I welcome all ideas, criticism, praise and prods. I look forward to creating an event for the racers and the mopar community, and hope as many of you that can participate will. Dave, as far as you staying in Indy for the extra week, i offer my home to you and your son if it were to help you attend both events
Thanks everyone for reading my extra long first post

Josh I appreciate your generous offer -- but I just can't make it work. Too many events in the North I have to go to because of the NMCA, and I just can't afford to add yet another, or take a two week plus road trip.
I promise to return (and bring plenty of racers) when the event returns more central US.
It is a double hurt -- as the 6-pack 4-speed B5 Superbird I have is just finishing up its 7-year restoration and was a shoe in for best of show.

Josh,
Good to hear from the horses mouth! That cuts out a lot of the Internet rumor factor.
Sorry, but as it stands, we won't be joining you this year, due to scheduling and travel. We've been to Monster the past three years with our, Chevy NSS car, and have been treated warmly (a few stares and off-brand jokes, but we can take it!). It's been really different, with the NSS class being the center of attention. The fans seem to love 'em.
If you keep NSS running all makes, we will rejoin you. The NSSA (a.k.a. Doug Duell) rules will bring you the biggest car count, with the widest variety of make and models. A sure-fire crowd pleaser. The brand rivalry is a good thing!
Unless the wife decides to run her Magnum R/T (yup, it's been down the track more than a few times), the only Mopar we'll be able to bring is the tow truck!
Looking forward to Monster Mopar NSS All-Run 2012! Put Monster and all-run NSS on the 2012 schedule EARLY (I hope you're already working on it!).

Josh, You may want to post the entry fee and payout, this may sway more NSS racers with schedule issues. With the economy and gas $$, I am looking at the those two things along with the weather. I will throw something out here that I heard today.. the NSS racers seem to be the most traveling class, most NSS cars plan on showing up Friday so how about .. Friday test and tune, get the cars sorted out, 1 (one) time trial Saturday then the eliminator. This will give the some the opportunity to travel home Sunday and for the rest that want to stay maybe a gamblers race on Sunday. just an idea
