65 Coronet w/ SS springs in board.
What is a good but reasonable adj. rear shock? I was looking at the Calvert 9 ways. Any input?

Have you run the car with SS Springs yet? What does the car run and what does it 60'? My red 65 Coronet was a SS leaf spring car that ran in the 11.2 second area with a old and loose 451 and transbrake. The 60' were high 1.5Xs - and not very consistent. It has since been turned into a ladder bar car. A lot of people who know more than I don't like the SS Springs for B-Bodies or A-Bodies -- but there are also other opinions. We replaced the SS Spring's on a Demon with Calvert mono-springs with a 1" lift and the Calvert spring brackets. The shocks we used were Rancho 9000 13-way. The Demon was a 10.6 car and did consistent 1.45s in the 60s. If you are committed to the SS Springs -- I would call Calverts and ask for their suggestions for your combination. I talked to them for about an hour when i was looking to do something for the Demon -- and I feel like he knows his stuff on leaf spring cars. I think he'll sell you the right shocks if you give him enough information to go on.

I ran the car late last year. I smoked the slicks(28x10.5) off the line every time. Car ran 10.8@124 w/ 1.60 60ft. I firgure the car should 60ft in the 1.47-49 range. I did e-mail Calverts and asked them about their 9 way rear shocks. I figure I will install a set this spring.
I have a smaller set of torsion bars. If I install them will this help on weight transfer? I have the Cavert 90/10's already and have removed the upper bump stops. I am going with a wider slick this year also so just looking for some suspension set-up tips so I can get the car off the line.

not the greatest picture of my rear suspension, but these are dvorak leaf springs with cheap mopar gas shocks. At Monster Mopar my car consistently 60ft 1.46 15 passes on 30x9 slicks. Leaf spring cars need the front end to transfer the weight. 2cents Attachments:

Remember the only way to go with a wider slick in NSS is with a taller 10.5W or a wider rim.

The 10.5's I was using(28x10.5 M/T) stated only a 10" tread so was looking at the Phenoix 10.5 that are advertised at 10.8 tread. I needed to play with the tire pressure. I had them down to 14.5psi and it still smoked them. That is why I was looking for some suspension set up ideas. Figured my rear shocks weren't working that well.
I have read somewhere about Dave. D spring set up. Something about clamping the front and unclamping the rear half of the spring. Never messed with it cuz didn't really know what he was talking about.
I installed a bigger set of torsion bars when the car was only used for street driving. I was thinking about re-installing the stock(smaller)bars. I also heard something about removing the upper bump stop so the front suspension can stretch out. Heck I will try anything at this point.

Have you tried running less that 14.5psi in this tires?
I run 12PSI in the Vitamin C -- and went from 9.50 to 10.5 in the Coronet -- both with 31"X 10.5W. We'd run 11 in the Demon with 29X10
I've often been told that I don't run enough air -- but that's what those cars want. I can't explain why -- and I can ignore the time slips

Ran out of time so never got a chance to adjust the pressure any more. I will get to mess with it again this spring.
