Leave it to a redneck Texan to figure out another way to use his Christmas yard art lights to keep the water liquid in the old racecar. ;D Attachments:

A true redneck would put a tray full of charcoal under the motor to keep it warm. A really good red neck would already be used to getting up a few times at night to tend to the fire in his smoker so it makes it a natural thing to do !!!

Heat lamps wouldn't keep my motor warm this time of year.
Now tell me about this "leaving bottom hose off" idea. You drain all the water out and leave the hose off WHY? I get tired of draining the water and replacing it with anti freeze then in the spring flushing system and refilling it with water. Can you say "Pain in the A$$"
The things we do in the North when in gets cold, you know below 32 degrees.

I take it off to drain the water, run the pump, clear the block out and am too lazy to put it back on until spring.

I guess my concern/worry is that I wont get all the water out and it will freeze and crack the block. Sounds crazy but still worries me.

That is a good reason to put petcocks on the sides of the block.... so you can also drain the block. IF the headers will allow the room. You can always use a couple of brass fittings (elbows, straight pieces of pipe etc.) and put a cap on the end of the "plumbing" to allow you to get access to it. This way you get 99% of the water out of everything!
Of course being up north and it staying cold as long as it does you could always put one of those oil pan heaters on it and plug it in and leave it when the temps get that cold.
The charcoal thing takes too much effort and time away from the Jack!

That is a good reason to put petcocks on the sides of the block.... That's what I did. Drain the water at the end of the race season. Replace it with antifreeze, that I saved from the beginning of the season. I do a few cruises before and after the season also, so I can't leave it drained.

we just do the simple thing.......jack up the rear, pull the hose with the pump running.........never had a problem...but it is a Ford.............lol
