I have an old Weiand inline, two 4, max wedge port intake. Its a REAL low profile intake. I think it has W 620 cast in the top of it. That may be wrong though.
Anything beneficial that can be done to this intake? I was going to look at port matching and putting some spacers on it for sure. Any need to open it up from 4 hole to open plenum? I realize its limited, but its what I have and Im going to try to work with it for now.
Its going on a mild 499 with SR heads opened up to M/W with a flat tappet cam 623/615, 280/284 at .050 and 12 to 1 compression.

you may want to think about the max wedge port- doubt the weiand will open up that much......1-2 inch open spacers , mill the divider down about 1/2-3/4" and radius the runner entry

Hey Damon Its actually already at a max wedge port. Its an intake that I had never seen before. Ill have to take some pictures of it. I had figured on running 2 inch spacers or maybe even some tapered spacers on upside down to try and create some velocity from the open side of the spacer down the taper to the 4 hole entrance. Does that sound feasible? Or am I way over thinking that?

I would not think velocity would be a problem, but plenum space will

Other than cutting down the divider, any other plenum improvements? I know the best course is a different intake.
I'm locked into this combo for this year anyway. Its going to be hard enough to put the time and money together to run all the races I am shooting for, so I will just test and see what it will do.
Another question.
What size carbs would you run on my combo? I have all your carb mod articles that you wrote several years back and I have 650s and 750s now.
Combo Good light weight rotating assembly 499, SR heads opened up to M/W with a flat tappet cam 623/615, 280/284 at .050 and 12 to 1 compression, 8 inch converter, 4.56 gear and 3500lbs +. The car had run a best of 9.91 @137 with a single plane and a holley 950HP. This was with my MSD going away and breaking up pretty bad in high gear. The car has been parked for over 2 years.

We used one of those on Frankenwagon... it is now on Mark Buchanan's car. It seemed to work best with a pair of 1" open spacers under the carbs and the dividers cut down.... don't remember how far I trimmed them. I also port matched the exit and blended up as far as I could reach with the bit. Again from memory... it had a pair of 750 Eddies on the wagon, don't know what Mark has on it now.

Hey Damon,
Where would you start as a baseline for my combo?
I have some 750s that are still as they came with 113/107 jets and which ever rods and springs that came in them.
I was thinking more like 113/110 and to be honest im just not real sure on the metering rods. I realize im going to have to monitor and adjust them to my combo, but just wasnt real sure on a starting point.
