Um?4.4 FRAME FRAME (NSS CLASSES): Stock frame required but may be strengthened with the addition of braces and “notched” or moved inboard for rear-tire and wheel tub clearance. Yup, that's pretty gray. What rules are made for...to be strengthened, braced, notched and moved !

I got a the stock 4 link set up with the 12 Bolt in my Cheby... Skinny tires and all... good for 9.90's so far.
Chevy's don't need no stinkin 10.5W's
Got one ? though, how come you cut the frame in half? I would think that would really weaken the frame cutting it and re-welding it.
Not that I know chit anyway.

Mike and Barry's WE-HAUL Chevelle is done that way. Theirs works well (I think they've been 8.50?). The stock frame is basically sheet metal any way....I figured with it boxed-in and gussetted, w/ 1/4" plate, it would be stronger than stock. I'm like you, I don't know squat. Just trying a combination of what I've seen work: *Seltzer and White - Frame cut and narrow. *Late model Mustang - Adjustable stock control arms. *Anti roll bar - White, Morris, and others. *Mini tubs - Keep the stock look. *It's a really good time to add disc brakes. *10.5W - Mo' is better, right? Well, We'll see if it works in a couple of months!!!!

Mark knows what he is talking about. Yes it can be dialed in and I had the 68 running 1.40 60's on small ET Streets. But if I had a 572 cubic Monster HP Chevy I would have went the way Mark and I suggested. Jim

Got the Malibu finished (back end together any way!). Wheelied a few times in the driveway Tuesday before dark. Kids in the neighbor hood love it. I'm sure the adults hate it (at least the old fogies!). It's good to have a 150', asphalt driveway. Won't hook on the seal coated drive, but it launches well on the concrete, parking pad. Found out why she fell off at Holly Springs. Fuel cell foam had deteroiated. The fuel filter and all the line from the tank to the filter, was FULL of rotten plastic. She was a bit leaned out, to say the least. No more foam in the cell now. Off to the rest of my to-do list: Screw wheels Change oil New front rubbers (26" tall, gotta meet those rules!) Front end alignment ( any suggestions on specs?) AND LAST BUT NOT LEAST - Put in new seat belts. The ones I have, will be 24 months old by racing season, so NHRA says they're COMPLETELY UNSAFE!!!! STUPID RULE!
