I'll start: 2004 Family Photo My name is Dave Schultz -- but I also go by Old Hippie and Big Kahuna. I got the name Big Kahuna about 20 years ago by my employees, because of my size and because my wife and I would go to Hawaii every year in April for our anniversary. I got the name Old Hippie after I retired from corporate life -- and shed my short hair, wingtips and suit for long hair, shorts, and sandals. In my corporate days with our youngest daughter, who we adopted later in life than most I have been married to the same woman for 30+ years and have five kids. Four are grown, and a little girl (now twelve), who has been with us since she was 6 weeks old. I have a huge Chocolate lab by the name of Buster, and a little Boston Terrier by the name of Dixie. I am a Mopar fan and have a small collection of cars - including some Brand Xs. My daily driver alternates between a 4X4 2006 Ford King Ranch Dually Crew Cab and a SRT8 6-speed Challenger. We have a home on Lake Conroe -- but we just bought a new home in Katy, TX -- as our kids (and my five brothers, three sisters, 29 nephews/nieces, and both parents) and our extended family is very close and does most everything together. My wife couldn't stand us moving 80 miles from them. We'll spend time between the two of them for awhile. I was in the Air Force as a truck driver 1972-1976, and a truck driver for a little while after that. I then repo'd vacuum cleaners for Electrolux, then rental appliances, and by the late 70's I was repoccessing cars. Tired of being shot at I became a bill collector -- while going to college nights on my GI Bill for Business and Computer Science. I then worked in the computer industry for a few years, but returned to the debt recovery industry when I was made an offer I couldn't refuse to run and automate a large collection agency for 38% ownership in it. In 1986 I sold ownership of that agency due to disagreements on the future direction with the other two partners. I sold a computer systems I developed for the collection industry -- until a few later I was made an offer I couldn't refuse to run a customer's agency for him. I left there in 1989 due to a disagreement, and started my own agency in 1990. In 1998, a couple of Wall Street people walked into my office to offer me a chance to sell the agency for a little home run -- and I took it. I continued as a buyer of distressed credit card debt (company I started in 1992) and had a software company (company I started in 1994), until I sold them in October 2008 -- in anticipation of hard times coming for Business owners and increased taxes coming. I now spend most of my time managing the assets in our Family Limited Partnership (our legacy to our kids), drag racing and designing web sites. I will most likely return to business one last time before I fully retire -- but only after the political climate for small business owners changes. I designed and maintain over 50 web sites, own a web hosting company, and administer to a couple of larger web sites like: MoparStyleOld HippieNSS RacingI also create quick and inexpensive web sites that customers can maintain themselves after I've set it up for them. One many of you might recognize is Diamondback EnginesI drive Big Red Ram, which is a red 65 Coronet, in Nostalgia Super Stock. I, with my son Dallas in NMC, ran the full NMCA circuit in 2008 and 2009 -- getting 4th in both years. I still haven't decided if I'll be able to run the full NMCA circuit in 2010. My son is now running a black 65 Coronet in NSS. My car is a 4-speed car built by Mark Artis at Texas Thunder, that just received a new Diamondback Engines 580ci motor built by Damon Kuhn. Mark has been working on my next NSS car, which is a 60 Plymouth 2-door wagon. It should hopefully be ready to run by Joliet. I have a passion for NSS racing, and am concerned with its future since the average age of the drivers increases each year. I make it a personal goal to promote NSS where ever I can, to try to get some young blood in the cars to carry on the tradition, more people in the stands, more events to carry the class, and more money in the purses. I hope to meet as many of you as possible at the events we attend.

Hi all, my name is Al James and Im from Western Australia, I have been a part of your other site for a long time Dave, I guess you have seen my name over there, this NDR site should be great. Im 44 but feel 28 and have the better half Carol with 2 boys Aaron 18 & Corey 15, lifes fantastic with them. My username tells the story , Im in Australia and own a MaxWedge car, a 1963 aluminium front Plymouth Belvedere. The car has a massive history being Australia's first imported drag car in 64, winner Aust Nationals 65 and more. I look forward to being a part of this place and maybe I can learn a few more tricks from you guys, Im about to start putting another engine together so I might be asking a few questions if thats OK . My car is as old school as it gets....iron cross ram 426, SS springs, all of it. It is literally the same way as when we first built it. I was nostalgia before nostalgia was cool!! We intend to run the 422 Motorsports circuit, along with the Beaver Springs events on the east coast. Attachments:

My name is Al Wilson. I'm a plant engineer with ATI Engineered Products (for 30 plus years). I've been racing my '60 Plymouth Belvedere number of years, usually just a few major events each year. It's street driven, and I drive to all the races. My best showing was a runner up at Monster Mopar street division three years ago. The unusual thing about the car is the two piece factory long ram intake. Here is a picture at the 2008 Hot Rod Reunion: I'm doing a couple of upgrades this winter...rear disk brakes and a manual shift valve body. I think these will improve my times along with greater consistency.

Hello, Mark Leischer from Glendale AZ. Been a Super Stock fan but never a racer since the '60s. I'm a Pontiac nut. Love the full size early 60's Catalans etc. I just found and bought a good '63 that I'm really fighting internally over how to build it. I was shopping for a nice '60 Cat to make a gasser out of. I thought that would be the best looking car out of the early full size cars to make one from. But found this '63 in such good shape and one of my favorites, that now I'm leaning toward a NSS style, but I still have the burning need for a gasser. Either way it would not be period correct as that is not my goal. I built a 1065 hp turbo 455 '73 Trans Am that is sold as of now. So I'm going back to the turbo route with a '60 389 block and big heads etc. Anything I build must be user friendly for the street so that is paramount, then strip ready next. I want to run 9's and then drive it 200 miles on a cruise. We'll see if I'm good enough. Thanks for having me on the board. I look forward to reading the info here and especially videos. Hello! I'm new here. Saw my first hot rod in May 1949 and haven't been the same since. Saw my first drag race and smelled Nitro for the first time in August 1950, haven't been the same since. Had the unqiue opportunity to grow-up (though not mature) with both the sport and the industry. What a ride! Have tried to retire three times and have discovered I'm a miserable failure at that. Am now credentialed as an "Accredited Senior Appraiser' with the American Society of Appraisers and focused on providing value opinions for unique, exotic, historic and racing motor vehicles. It's the ULTIMATE car guy job!

Hi, new guy from north of the border. Im hoping nothing but success for the board. Ok, Im not quite as old as Thunderlungs there and I didnt see my first drag race until 1971. Being the youngest boy, I was heavily influanced by older brothers who were into the drag racing scene. My tastes have always leaned toward 1960's Stock, S/S Gas, etc. I recently completed writing a book based upon the career of Bill "Grumpy" Jenkins and it was a pleasure to deal with him through out the process. The book will be released Jan 15th through CarTech and at this time it is available at all online bookstores for preorders. If anyone is interested. The book will be availble in local bookstores after Jan 15th. Doug

Hi, My name is Jeff. Originally from the UK, Where I owned and raced a '66 Coronet and a '69 A100 pick up.
Moved to Canada around 15 months ago, I shipped the A100 with me, and sold the Coronet on. Due to the recession things got scary and I had to let the truck go as well.
But I had enough left to buy a cheaper "toy".......
It is a very original '64 Fury. I have started putting my own touchs to it, but this will be more of a look rather than a performance car. This is due to current finance limitations and the fact it is a 4 door! Never thought I would ever buy a 4 door, but I love it so far. And at least I still have a Mopar from my favorite era.
As an airbrush artist, I intend to have a little fun with it, the One shot has already started on the trunk. Oh, and as you can see from below, it has a slightly different stance now, and a bit more wheel and tire on the rear!

hello my name is willie (wills30) i am a QA for ibp , i have love cars since ever since i since, i seen a 74 gto slam threw the gear racing another , my father was a olds guy , and i grew into a olds guy , as i bought a father son project , and he pasted before , we could get started , i am still learning and i love the hobby , and hopefully i can watch the sport grow ,i tryed to send photos and i do not no how to down size
