It only took 12 years, but I broke the wagon. I'll try to attend the Mopars at the Motorplex, but it looks like as a spectator only. I nailed the rear at Denton.

What rear end is in that thing? What broke? I haven't had a chance to do the autopsy just yet, but expert opinion at the track Sunday says either the pinion or the mini-spool. It makes a loud banging sound consistant with the driveshaft speed. It's a B-body 8 3/4 with a 742 case.

Too bad you're not closer as I'd let you run your old Aspen. You're welcome to come down to get it, race it, and bring it back. I'm already bringing two cars -- and can't get it there to you.

;D Two months and six hundred bucks later, the good smellin', ole time rock and roll fun wagon is back at the track. It's amazing: took me six weeks to get it apart and order the parts, and only 1 1/2 hours to put it all back together. Makes me wonder what I could accomplish if the family went out of town EVERY weekend. No matter how cool it looks to the neighbors, resist the urge to do dry hops in the driveway. I took about half the teeth on the ring gear off. It explained the snapping sound when I was loading the car for Denton in April.

What's the difference between a mini-spool and a spool? I realize the mini would be smaller -- but what is the benefit (reciprocating weight?). What's the durability difference?

mini spool is a part that fits in the original carrier that does away with spider gears and all intenal open or posi-traction parts. A spool is a much better solution.
