A reliable little birdie told me that there is a NSS legal Barracuda with a new Indy 633CI Motor (not sure if it was a Wedge or a Hemi) that just dyno'd with over 1200hp -- coming to Houston. He feels like the car will be able to go 7s -- or at least faster than any NSS legal car to date.
While he'll run the 8.75 class -- he intends to let it all hang out in Time Trials.
I'm sworn to secrecy on who it is, and won't say who the Little Birdie was.
Maybe the "Little Birdie" or the car owner will post further details -- or maybe we'll just have to wait until November 12th for the details.
Those at the race might see history made and a new record set.
I'm personally looking forward to it.

If it is the car I am thinking it is you saw it at Monster Mopar for it's maiden voyage. They dailed in at 9.25. It has a 572 Indy Hemi. He was going to a much bigger hemi. Very nice father and son team. We always enjoy chatting with them. Athough it is a very trick car I doubt it will run in the sevens. Their 572 dynoed at 1,030 hp, I would think to pickup over a second and a quarter it would take an additional 400+ hp at the very least. That kind of horsepower is hard to find. Not to mention trying to do it foot braking and on 10.5's. There is only a small handful of true NSS cars capable of dailing in at 8.75. I think it will be a good while before anyone cracks the sevens.

There is a major competition on having the fastest NSS/FX car.
Some serious money is being thrown around to achieve it -- and frankly I'm enjoying watching as I don't have the kind of scratch to compete. A lot of people are deep into the 9's and quite a few are now running 8s.
If this man thinks he's going to hit the 7s -- I'm willing to watch him try. 1200+ is a lot of power, and he has a very light car. I doubt he can get the traction to do 7s initially -- but I think he has a chance at making the fastest pass yet recorded -- and I think sooner or later someone will hit the 7s.
The cars get faster every year. I remember when I started running NSS that there were just a couple FX cars. I think there were close to 20 of them at the last Monster. The average ET gets faster every year in the Monster.
Just when you think these cars are running on the ragged edge -- someone turns up the wick a little more.

At the Good Guys in Bowling Green a couple of weeks ago there were cars running in the 8s and they were not MOPARS. They were full-size family sedans. Jim N.

Even using the SS/AH technology I would think it will be a good while before we see sevens. AH cars have the luxury of 14x32's, trans-brakes and air shifters, plus the latest trick chassis is about $250,000. Can't imagine why someone would take a AH car that they could make big dollars with and put an illegal motor in it run for an average of $1,500 that we compete for. I think we have a very unique and fun class with a lot of very fast cars. I doubt that we will have any classes faster than 8.50 for quite some time.

I hope they do run a 7.
but i wouldn't hold your breath... its a light car but it takes a lot to run an 8 none the less a 7.. and i dont think an indy based hemi is going to do it... FHO's 604 millennium hemi makes as much power as an indy 636 hemi "advertises" and thats around 1100... Tank Crosswhite went 8.50's at 2800 lbs in a savoy with a FHO 604 millennium hemi and that was after it was ironed out.. And if Indy is building it... I would be more worried about it staying together rather then running a 7 lol.
what's the record for an NSS car now. like 8.30 right? 422 motorsports "Dearbourne Thunder"
then there is Habura, Grinwald, and Quinn all running 8.70's
and I believe Mike Singleton has been in the 50's with his 63 car... I could be mistaken..
all im saying is I don't see a NSS car going a 7 for awhile.. we need some 8.50 cars first!! lol
But if anyone were to run a 7 id hope it would be those guys. They are some good guys!

I too think that 7s in a NSS car are not going to happen for a while -- but I'll bet I'll someday see it happen. Has Singleton gone 8.50s? I know he's put a lot of money and trick stuff (funky looking carbs) in his car -- but I hadn't heard that he'd got it down the track quickly yet.
Actually the last time I saw or heard about him was when I about shit myself when he blew up the intake off a brand new motor at Joliet either one or two years ago.
I was in front of his pits with my back to them when they blew the top of his intake about 200' in the air. About the loudest explosion I've ever heard. Then someone took a CO2 fire extinguisher to the motor that was on fire -- so that the whole motor was going to have to be torn down. I think it had one pass on it.

hmm alright so its not a hemi...
its makes a lot of steam on the dyno.... so if they get the combo right this could happen
its all indy stuff so im curious to the head and manifold choice. are cast tunnelrams allowed in FX?
and they can use 850 holleys correct?

Made 1200hp+ on the Dyno
Holleys are legal for Mopars in FX
Tunnel rams CAN be legal if they don't protrude over the hood.
