Let me throw this out there for discussion without getting flamed by the "My way or the highway crowd". It is a thought -- not a suggestion.
To me -- the best NSS races are those in the same index. They're also the most fair with cars being more equal with tire spin, track prep, etc...; and with driver (no first or last chance to red light).
I think if the classes of NSS were reduced to four (A/NSS = 9.0, B/NSS = 10.0, C/NSS = 11.0, C/NSS = 12.0) then there would be a good chance of having Heads Up Class Index Racing with 16 cars per class at the bigger races.
If you're a 9.5, 10.5, 11.5, or 12.5 -- you would have to find a little more ET or drop down 1/2 second until you did.

Hi Dave. I understand your thinking but I personally like the .5 index for a couple of reasons. For me I want to be able to run any class up or down depending on how my car does at a particular track. A 1.0 index makes that more difficult and makes car set up more complicated in a short time frame ie. suspension, adding weight, de-tuning and so on. I also believe stick cars like mine, will be at a disadvantage due to clutch tuning. Most cars competing now, as you say have to step it up or slow it down. That means more cost for some to go quicker and wasted money for others that have to slow their cars down. JMHO

I also think the best racing is the same class cars, but instead of changing the system that is in place lets just tweak it. I think if you run heads up let take away the break out and run balls out. Just my opinion

With the evidence provided by the turn out at Monster, why mess with a good thing?
I like it the way it is.

I know where your comming from Dave. There's nothing better tha a good old heads up. I have an 11.50 car---I don't want to go slower-Would be kinda hard to make it go 11.00 with my old original parts and don't have a rollbar. But I enjoy nss racing and the drivers so will just roll with the flow.

How about on .50's --- 9.50, 10.50, 11.50, 12.50
but seriously we need to leave it where it's at, the interest and car count prove this out. the heads up runs come out in the eliminator in the more popular classes ie. 10.0, 10.5, and 11.0 look at the car count in those 3 classes.
