If any of you would like head to Houston directly after this race -- I can safely accommodate the parking of your rig/trailer at my shop on stabilized ground -- and even provide a little shop space if you need to work on your car prior to the race.
Why not drop your trailer Monday and take a couple of days seeing the sites in South Texas -- then come get your car/trailer Thursday and head to the track.
Visit the Alamo Try a little Kemah Therapy on the boardwalk Head to the Space Center for a simulated Shuttle ride The Strand on Galveston Island
There is a ton of things to do in Texas during November

I have just returned from Holley Springs, We tested the Funny Car there and got things in line for the event. All of the crew were great to work with, everyone is friendly and the track is user friendly and FUN!!!!! They have loads of paved pits, uphill shutdown which allows you to coast back to your pits[ you should have seen the looks that I got driving through the pits in the Funny Car ], nice bathrooms and showers, smooth track surface and lots of hook. The people are all friendly and are looking forward to seeing us! I have had very good response for NSS there [ I think we will have over 20 cars ] both from racers and spectators. This should be a very big event even with the short prep time. We will have a set Pit area for NSS in a Prime location! We will be parking on Thurs. from Noon till 6:00. Gates will open at 8:00 a.m. on Fri.If you are going to be arriving later than Noon on Friday, let me know so we can hold a spot for you.Don't forget, you can lay over there and then go to Houston the next weekend! Please call with any questions, hope to see you all there, Chris Schneider 573-644-3272 P.S. It was good seeing you DW on Sat!

We are leaving Columbia TN at noon I hope. I'm not sure how long it will take use to get there. Map Quest shows almost 200 miles, but it is all cross country (no interstate ). So I would be lucky to get there by 5pm.
I would sure like to know if I can get in and would like to have a spot with the rest of the NSS cars. I will stay in the motor home so if I don't make it before the gate closes I can sleep there. Just let me know the deal.
Thanks JIm N.

Looks like a pain driving any way you go, Jim. I'm wondering if you'd be better off doing I-40 to Jackson, the cutting across 18/7?
I'll be there until they close the gates Thursday and Friday. Call me on my cell (I'll send you a PM) if you need anything! That offer goes out to any NSS racer. I'm close by! Send me a PM and I'll call you. Also, Terry, the track operator cell # is 901-830-0179. He know's how to get in touch with me. Great guy, very helpful (he's a racer).
Weather looks like it's gonna be WOW! A little cool, bring lots of weight! Lows in the mid 30's, high Sat. upper 50's, Sunday lower 60's. Dry air and a BIG barometer! The rain tomorrow and Wed. should have the track nice and clean.
Radio, TV and television ads have been running. There should be a giant crowd of spectators.
See all you NSS folks at Holly Springs Inter-Galactial Raceway, this weekend!

Thanks for the help and the info. Actually we cut cross country and only get on I- 40 at Jackson if we are going west. We have a route that will get us there but not like running 70mph on an interstate. Thanks again, Jim Netherland

Just a quick update: We will be parking on Thurs. from 12:00 till 6:00 p.m. The gates will close promptly at 6:00. There is no place to park outside of the gate, so if you get there later, find a place in town to park until morning. Friday the gates will open at 8:00 a.m. not before. It will be open until 7:00 p.m. They will reopen at 8:00 a.m. on Saturday. There will be a Prime Pit Area reserved for NSS! If you are arriving after 5:00 p.m. on Friday, call me and let me know so we can save a space for you. I think we will have a very nice turn-out of NSS cars. There will be a large crowd as well! The weather looks great. Holley Springs is a nice facility and good track. The people are great to get along with. I appreciate Doug helping with the event, and I am look forward to seeing everyone there! I am leaving in the a.m. for Mississipi, so I will not have any Internet access, if you have any questions feel free to call. Chris Schneider 573-644-3272 or 573-291-0999

Got back from the Buick Nationals with the car in one piece, so I plan on heading to Holly Springs about noon on Friday. Save me a spot. Jim Netherland. Hope to be down there next week, on Wed./Thurs. to see if we can get a NSS parking corral. Everyone who is FOR SURE is coming, let me know, and I'll see what I can do. Barring truck or trailer breakage, I'll be heading up from Houston.

I tried to figure out how to get there but just make it happen. I guess the Lonestar race will be the shakedown race for that motor. I think it will be alright.

Pack that crap in the single trailer hook it up to that Ferd and lets go Dave, I am going by myself, We are leaving at 9am....gives you 15 hours to get ready. I am staying at the Roach Motel by the track, they had plenty of rooms.
If I can skip work for 4 days, so can you.
