For years Flying J was motor home friendly — and since many of us travel to races in a motor home — racer friendly. They have special motor home aisles that gave a cash price on diesel, have waste tank dump stations, and a rewards program that gave you a cent off per gallon. About a year ago, they hook up with a MasterCard that gave discounts on fuel and credits for the restaurant when using the card at Flying J. Then about a month ago they started charging to dump your tanks — the main reason most motor homes come to Flying J. This weekend I bought about $1100 about in diesel traveling to and from the NMCA Milan race. All weekend long I couldn’t pay at the pump — and the idiots inside couldn’t figure out how to use my Flying J Mastercard. Now I just find out that Pilot bought Flying J last week, the is no more credit for credit price, no more rewards program (and the $225 I had banked is gone), no motor home discount — and they’re closing the restaurants. All three $350 transactions was a 20 minute adventure inside with the Pilot, who in all three cases were total asses. If you have been using Flying J for their Motor home friendliness — you may need to look elsewhere. I’m done with them. I’ll be canceling my MasterCard account with them too.
