The new motor for the Sub is in the car waiting on the headers to be finished at the coating place which should be tomorrow. This thing should run real good!!! We did a few chassis changes to be prepared for a little different launch so there shouldn't be any surprises when we get to the track. Steve has all the paperwork done for his license so after a few easy passes we can round up the required licensed drivers to watch him run and get him legal to drive this thing. The car finally has the motor I built it to handle so we'll see if I did my homework!!! I am happy for Steve, this thing should make him really proud now! The last two races he went to he got a runner up and then a win before a spiral lock decided to leave a piston and let the wrist pin make like a plow down the cylinder wall. The thrown together 440 that was in the car ran pretty good for what it was but now he gets to have some real fun! Attachments:

Front carb is below the hood line and it all fits under a 5 inch scoop. In fact we took an inch out of the scoop height because it sits lower than the Weiand it had on it on the tall deck motor.... this is a low deck. I bet the runners are shorter than your cross ram! Yours just sits funny..... LOL

We fired it up Saturday..... warmed it up, ran the valves and fired it again. Sounds real good. I think we may need a better starter though!!!

This thing flies!!!
Thanks goes out to Damon Kuhn, Butch Leal, Mark Artis and Dan Bell for their valuable input on this project. Without it, this thing wouldn't run the way it does. All I had to do was put it all together!
Once we get this thing all sorted out and get a chance to run it in some good air..... Steve is gonna really like it! So far, it doesn't even sounds like it's working hard at all! We have got to get a good launch RPM figured out and do a little adjusting to the chassis but considering the heat, corrected altitude (3090 ft) and poor track prep...... not too shabby for the first few easy passes.
