I like it -- from what I can see. Again, it appears to be more of a fast street car than race car -- but it wouldn't take much to run it in NSS. To bad they don't give more information. I'd like to know what the rear half of the car is? Leaf springs, coil over ladders, Dana, 8 3/4, Ford 9"? Suregrip, Spool, Locker? How fast is it? How was the trans built? What safety equipment does it have.
How solid is the body? Have you looked under the car? I like it!

Yes, I've looked under it, not perfect but zero rust. It was too fast for me, but I am a wimp. Has roll cage, cheap floor shifter, Indy aluminum heads painted orange, solid cam, holly carbs, its a bad boy. Its a 63 post car and you don't just find those in the mall parking lot.

I think the slowest class for NSS is 13.0 -- and while that car might feel fast -- it is going to be close on if it can consistently do it and be street legal too.
Speed is relative. When my son was 15 we built him a 12-second car. I made the first pass at 12-something and handed it over to him a few days after he turned 16. He did a 15-second pass and was shitting his pants when came back -- swearing something was wrong with the car. I made another pass and all was well. I told him he was use to his new 6-banner Dodge truck -- and to grow some balls. He went out and ripped off a couple of passes 1/10 faster than mine. All he talked about on the way home was becoming a Pro.
A month later, in his first event, he won it and was the Texas Outsider champ for NMC in 2004 & 2005. Before he turned 17 he was going 9-seconds and had a Competition License.
Point is that after the first couple of passes -- you will forever want to go a little faster every time out.

Get that 65 For $15K and spend a couple of grand with Mark to get it up to NSS legal.

........... Point is that after the first couple of passes -- you will forever want to go a little faster every time out. Ain't that the truth. The only thing keeping me from going faster is my checkbook. When I bought my 67, it ran low 10's. I had nightmares about how fast it would be and couldn't sleep for a week till I finally took it to the track and got behind the wheel. It still runs low 10's, but it doesn't seem as fast anymore.

Running anything stought on the street seems scarey! Our street legal, NSS Malibu is totally uncontrollable, with just moderate throttle, on the street. On a stickey, straight track, seems like a different vehicle. High 10's with no power adders...almost too much for a Sunday drive to church. Malibu doesn't go out many Sundays, usually ride the '58 Vette cruiser. It's a way cool cruiser!
From what you describe, $17K, it seems like a deal!
