What will it take to increase participation on this board?
No one likes change -- and we've certainly had some in the last 7 years.
7 years ago we started with a NSS forum at www.MoparStyle.com -- but there was complaining that it was a Mopar forum.
So about 5 years ago we moved it to www.OldHippie.com -- but there were complaints of the board being too much involved with US politics.
So 2 years ago I created this board on Pro Boards which is a free board -- but offers few features and little admin control when compared to OldHippie.com and MoparStyle.com, which I pay a license fee to Vbulletin.
However -- we still don't get the participation it takes to have a strong NSS board.
Is it because the board is too inclusive of other Nostalgia racing and should focus on Just NSS?
Is is because the ProBoard offers too few features and a Vbulletin board is preferred?
Is it that NSS racers are apathetic -- and just don't want to participate on forum that discusses NSS?
Is it because the racers in the NSS class tend to be less computer literate than the races of other classes?
Is it that there are one or more members who chase people away for one reason or another?
Part of building a strong NSS Racing class is a vehicle for members from all NSS organizations to discuss NSS topics in one place. And these topics need to be openly discussed with diplomacy.
A complaint I've been told of is that people have questions, and people have opinions -- but they won't ask or give if they feel like they'll be responded to in a parent ego state -- and made to feel like they're a child. I imagine that we've all been accused of that at one time or another -- and that we all need to be a little friendlier with our answers and opinions.
That said - what are your opinions on how we can increase participation:
Should we go to a Vbulletin board?
Should we reduce the forums?
Should we narrow the focus to just NSS instead of all Nostalgia Racing?
I'd like to hear the opinions of others -- and the friendly discussions of those opinions so I can modify the board to suit the maximum participation.
