I am currently working with the track owner of I-57 Dragway in Benton Illinois and Doug Duell to put together an NSS event there for 2011. I received the open dates from Doug yesterday that do not conflict with other events. I-57 is a pretty decent 1/8 mile track and Scott the owner is a super nice guy. He actually expressed interest to me earlier this year to do an NSS event and will pour his heart into making it a success. I am curious who may be interested in participating. The track is about 70 miles south east of St. Louis and 20 miles south of Mt. Vernon right off of I-57. If this interest's any of you please let me know. Btw, I made my debut with the NSS at the Monster Mopar this year in my 67 Fairlane 427. My car broke after redlighting in class eliminations on Saturday and could not return to compete on Sunday.

I might consider it if a 1/4 mile race -- but I don't see myself traveling that far (900 miles each way) for an 1/8 mile race. The good thing is that there are a lot of NSS drivers closer. Be sure you check www.nss-racing.com for the dates of the NMCA events. Your best best is to not have scheduled the week before, after or during.

It might be a race I could attend. Depends on the date. Will keep an eye on it. Jim N.

We'll be there if the date works. Never been to the track but I hear the people are friendly and it's always a good time.

Interested, as Dave and Jim said the date placement is criticle as is the location. I would venture to say that most of the likely to attend a NSS event live 300 miles north or south of I-70 between St Louis Mo. and Columbus Oh. give or take a few. Also how many events can they afford/schedule to attend a month between May and Oct.

Well as I stated above Doug has sent me the dates that will work so as soon as Scott Bailey chooses what works for him I will post it. For Guys that live North or West it is about 120 miles closer than Chandler and a whole lot nicer too. Hopefully we can get a date where the weather is not Un-Godly hot.

NSS Event's Calendar in the left sidebar at: www.nostalgiadragracers.com/If there any NSS Races that are not yet listed on that calendar (Chris Schnieder's series, Monster, Holly Springs, .....) then post so and I'll get them added.

Looks like a tentative date of July 30th for I-57. Details are being worked out and I will post them as I get more info.

Looking at the schedules submitted so far:
# NMCA - Joliet, IL on 23 Jul 2011 in 232 days and 05:02 hours.
# NMCA - Bowling Green, KY on 05 Aug 2011 in 245 days and 05:02 hours.
That's right smack between two NMCA races. At least those races are in the area.

Dave, You can make a long road trip out of it here in the Midwest.
Chandler on July 16th Joliet on July 23rd I-57 on July 30th Bowling Green Aug. 5th
Chandler and I-57 are smack dab in the middle!

With the race right before that, and the race right after that -- we'd be gone for the best part of two months. Our business can't afford that since it is two of us. I'm going to do the best I can to go to as many races as possible -- but money is much tighter than it had been for us. A one month road trip would be near impossible to do.
This might be my last run at the NMCA Points, and so I need to take it serious. I can't afford to break something that far from home and miss a NMCA race. I also suck at 1/8 mile racing. I've made less than 10 1/8 mile passes in my life.

Chandler on July 16th Joliet on July 23rd I-57 on July 30th Bowling Green Aug. 5th This is going to be a busy few weeks. Right, smack in the middle of the summer. Going to have to choose my priorities. Too many weeks out, all in a row, for me. Might just depend on how hot it's gonna be, any particular weekend. I hate racing in 100 degree heat! Too old! UGH! Right now, it's Chandler and BG, penciled-in... '67, did you get some beefier wheel studs behind that 427 Ford? I saw your "Cleveland" (canted - Ford only - inside joke) wheel studs at St. Louis!
